Corby's Jordan is 'buzzing' for his big fight night
Corby’s Jordan Vucenic is in a confident mood ahead of what could be a breakthrough night for him this weekend.
The MMA fighter will be taking on fellow prospect Paul Hughes in a featherweight bout on the Cage Warriors’ The Trilogy Strikes Back show at the famous York Hall on Saturday evening.

But this weekend is shaping up to be an important occasion for both Vucenic and Hughes who are regarded as two of the hottest prospects in Europe.
And while all the talk seems to be about his opponent, Vucenic said: “I am buzzing for it.
“It would be a big scalp on my record, especially as everyone seems to think I am going to lose so it will make it all the more sweeter because I know what I am going to go and do.

“We are just going to have to see if he can live up to all the expectations he has got.
“I would say I was only at 70 per cent for the last fight, I had a bad hand and bad ankle going into it but I got the job done with no excuses.
“I am expecting another hard fight but I do feel this is my time to break through and be ready to go to the world stage, not just the european.

“I want to win the Cage Warriors world title and then go on to the UFC and follow in the footsteps of those who have done it before.”
Vucenic certainly seems to have the backing of his hometown ahead of his big night.
It will take place behind closed doors due to current restrictions but he is hoping his followers will turn out in person for what he hopes will be some big nights in the future.

“Hopefully, when crowds are allowed back all the people who have been hyping me will come to the events.
“It would be good to get a world title shot if I can win this weekend and if that could happen in front of a crowd with a couple of hundred from Corby there, it would be great.”
